Description

DESCRIPTION
When Alessandro Cicognini composed the superb orchestral score for "Ulisses" he was anticipating the Peplum genre, and now it comes back on CD with much better quality optimized sound than ever. This 1954 Kolossal was produced by Dino de Laurentiis, and was directed by Mario Camerini, starring Kirk Douglas and Silvana Mangano. In the film Silvana Mangano performs both characters of Penelope, Ulysses' beloved wife, and Circe, the witch. That exalts the drama of the protagonist that is called to choose between good and evil, earthly loves and divine events. Cicognini alternates dramatic and mysterious themes to epic and romantic ones, and after fifty six years from it's first recording this OST still maintains it's perfect splendor. This new CD contains a recently discovered unreleased track (only partially used in the movie). De-Luxe booklet with 16 pages of rare archive photos and memorabilia.
