Description

DESCRIPTION
François de Roubaix was a French multi-instrumentalist/composer and conductor of mainly (French) soundtracks for film scores, documentaries and TV series such as "Les Survivants" (1965) and "Tarif de Nuit" (1968). François de Roubaix composed nearly one-hundred soundtracks. In 1976 he posthumously won a César (similar to the American Oscars) for best soundtrack to the movie "Le Vieux Fusil" ("The Old Gun") directed by Robert Enrico, and starring Philippe Noiret, Romy Schneider and Jean Bouise. Notable in his style is his use of folk elements, as well as electronic musical instruments such as synthesizers and early drum machines. François de Roubaix is thus seen as a precursor of the French electronic music.
