KINGSTON TRIO - COLLECTION 1958-62 CD

Description

DESCRIPTION
The Kingston Trio were one of the most popular and successful groups to emerge from the growth in popularity of folk music during the 1950s, as they brought a polished commercial approach to updated versions of traditional songs, becoming the biggest-selling album artists on the Capitol label during their first few years with the label, with five No. 1 albums, as well as scoring a number of significant and memorable hits in the singles charts. After making a No.1 US chart debut with "Tom Dooley", which also made the UK Top 5, and followed up with classics like "All My Sorrows", "M.T.A.", "A Worried Man", "San Miguel", "Where Have All The Flowers Gone", "Everglades" and "Greenback Dollar". This great-value 55-track 2-CD set comprises all their A and B sides from the first formative years of their recording career, along with a track from each of the fourteen albums they released during this period. It therefore provides a thorough overview of their chart-focused output during this era, as well as a substantial sample of the material which was bringing them a level of popularity which transcended the genres of folk and pop in an unprecedented way.
