By the time she had her first solo chart hit, 'Mule Skinner Blues' in 1970, Parton had already been a Country Music recording artist for nearly a decade, most notably as Porter Wagoner's singing partner since the latter part of the '60s. By the time of these recordings, she had become a bona fide Country star in her own right, but it would still be quite a few years before she became an absolute crossover superstar!
